     This lovely doe is Anna. She has matured into a really nice doe and we are looking forward to seeing her second freshening udder. Anna is a big improvement over her dam in body capacity and width. She is very hardy and healthy. Anna's daughter from 2016 is a very nice junior doe as well. We chose to run a bit of an experiment and bred half our junior does (the larger half) and held over dry the younger/smaller half. We wanted to see how the juniors who are held over faired as dry yearlings and then consequently as fresh two year olds. Time will tell. I will have to make some cuts this year, I want to retain a few doe kids to see what our new young bucks can do so I will possibly sell Anna and/or her daughter Adele. Started milking Anna 4-22 after freshening with triplet bucks. She was sold 4-29-17.		 8 21.1# - -  
I had planned to go on milk test in 2017, but with the stresses of kidding season, milking and bottle raising (when we didn't set-out to do that initially) and the new barn work having to be finished to get the herd moved into, testing just didn't happen. I need the milk machine in order to stay on test the length of time required too and currently I'm still hand milking. So the plan is to get the room done in the new barn for milking, get the milk machine up and running and the goats acclimated to it this year and then 2018 go on official milk test through both MDGA & TMGR. In the meantime, like in previous years, I keep detailed milk charts for each goat and I weigh milk each milking. I will continue to do that and record it on each doe's page and next year work towards official records and milk stars!
